Caring for women by providing life-affirming services
The vision of Cornerstone Women’s Health Center is to stand firm in proclaiming the Sanctity of Human Life and God’s design for Sexual Integrity.
We commit to love unconditionally every person the Lord entrusts to our care (Philippians 2:3; 1 John 4:7, 8, 19)
Every person born and unborn is created in the image of God and has inherent value. (Psalms 139:13, 14; Genesis 1:26, 27; Jeremiah 1:5)
The Bible is sufficient and correct in showing us how to live, and our services and conduct will reflect its absolute truth. (Romans 12:2; Colossians 2:8, 2 Corinthians 5:20)
Women are made in the image of God and have been gifted with the wonder of life within and should be cared for with all tenderness. (Isaiah 40:11)
Families are the foundational structure of society as ordained by God. We hold fast to this truth and vow to support the biblical objective for family and marriage. (Genesis 5:2, Matthew 19:4-6, Psalm 128:2-4)
We hold all confidential information in confidence and use it only to serve the needs of those entrusted to us. (Titus 2:7, Proverbs 11:13)
Salvation is a gift to all who believe in the atoning death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. We are committed to sharing this Good News. (Romans 1:16; Romans 10:9-10; John 3:16-17, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Cornerstone is a Christian ministry whose mission is the affirmation of the sanctity of human life and the evangelism of unbelievers to the truth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the world. At this moment in history, two distinct and antithetical world views, one secular and one biblical, make the necessity of those who are firmly grounded in the same Bible, the same creeds, and the same confession that Jesus is Lord, work together to face the moral and cultural threats of our time. The following statements are foundational as we go forward, understanding that our unity is and can be nothing less than the gospel of Jesus Christ. While acknowledging ecclesiastical divisions with respect, we believe Christians should not settle for doing anything separately that their consciences allow them to do together in order not to thwart and grieve our Lord or diminish a clear response to the culture of death sweeping the world.
There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit as confessed in the Apostles Creed. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in his personal return in power and glory. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential and that this salvation is received through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life and to perform good works. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God, profitable for guidance, reproof and training in righteousness and especially applicable in all matters pertaining to this ministry.
We adhere to the Biblical model of sexual relations, including the model of marriage presented in Genesis: one man and one woman united for the purpose of becoming a new family, and sexual abstinence outside of the bond of marriage. We confess the 1900 year-old teaching and practice of the historic Christian Church that abortion is incompatible with the person and teaching of the God of the Bible. We believe each person is made in the image of God and worthy of equal respect and protection under the law and that abortion is an act of violence that kills an innocent baby and is a violation of both the Christian faith and natural law.
We believe that the law of love constrains Christians to act with loving intervention to help women escape the temptation and violence of abortion by providing, in word and deed, truth, support, and alternatives to abortion and destructive sexual decisions.
Cornerstone Pregnancy Services had its beginnings in the heart of one concerned individual, Bill Williams, Music Minister at Church of the Open Door. After research, meetings, and much prayer, the Lorain County Crisis Pregnancy Center officially opened its doors on October 13, 1986 in rented space on North Abbe Road.
By 1990, it had become evident this ministry should be an outreach of the greater church body of Lorain County. The decision to officially separate from Church of the Open Door and rename the ministry Cornerstone Pregnancy Services was made. Property was purchased on Middle Avenue in Elyria and the old century home was remodeled to accommodate our services. Over the years we have seen great participation of many denominations and churches in the area, which has affirmed this courageous decision.
The ministry morphed over the years to accommodate the changes of the culture and the community at large. Several satellite centers have been launched including one in Lorain and one in Rocky River. Currently, the ministry is housed in property donated in 2006 and combining the previous Elyria and Lorain locations. This building is located near Midway Mall on Griswold Road.
Cornerstone has an intentional model of ministry focused not only on pregnancy, but also encompassing sexual integrity and sexual health. As such, we provide a sexually transmitted infection (STI) clinic for screening and treatment. We desire for women to be healthy and whole and are alarmed at the rising numbers of STIs in Lorain County. Some of these affect a woman’s fertility and can threaten her overall well-being.
In 1980, a group of friends from Cleveland traveled to Detroit, Michigan, to attend a powerful conference featuring Dr. Francis Schaeffer, Franky Schaeffer, and Dr. C. Everett Koop. The message was clear: Christians must respond to the issue of abortion with both conviction and compassion. Moved by this call to action, the group—alongside Pastor Fred Pugh of Grace Covenant Church—formed an advisory committee to explore launching a pregnancy center in Cleveland.
By 1984, their vision became reality with the incorporation of The Crisis Pregnancy Center of Cleveland. This marked the beginning of a Christ-centered ministry dedicated to supporting women facing unplanned pregnancies with love, resources, and hope.
In 2024, God orchestrated a remarkable expansion. Without prior coordination, the Boards of Cleveland Pregnancy Center and Cornerstone Pregnancy Services were simultaneously led to consider a unified path forward. After much prayer and discernment, both ministries—aligned in mission and values—chose to consolidate for greater reach and effectiveness.
On September 30, 2024, the consolidation became official. The newly structured entity, Cornerstone Pregnancy Services, now operates two campuses in Elyria, Cornerstone Women’s Health Center, and in Cleveland, Ohio, Lilli Women’s Center. This strategic union strengthens our ability to serve more women, steward resources wisely, and expand our life-saving outreach across Northeast Ohio.
Together, we are more equipped than ever to rescue, support, and empower women and families. Your partnership fuels this mission—helping us offer hope, healing, and tangible support to those who need it most.
“Those who are wise will take all this to heart;
they will see in our history the faithful love of the Lord.”
Psalm 107:43 NLT
